Horseshoe Lake

HORSESHOE LAKE IS THE COUNTY’S DESTINATION FOR TIGER MUSKELLUNGE. Nearly 9,000 tigers have been stocked since 1997. This 384-acre lake also has largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and yellow perch. Local anglers suspend a live minnow below a bobber for muskies, but casting spinnerbaits and surface lures also works well. Many tigers are taken as incidental catches by anglers targeting largemouth bass. Look for tiger muskies along weedlines. Anglers access the lake via three cartop launches located off Route 421, and 16 primitive campsites dot the lake’s south and west shorelines.
