Angling Aids

Publications, online information, and yes, even people are available to assist anglers who are planning trips to St. Lawrence County. To start, request a free Angler's Guide from the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce; call or visit the Chamber for personalized itineraries as well (315-386-4000; 101 Main St., Canton).

A county highway map can be extremely valuable in locating access to trout flows and remote ponds.  In addition, it is helpful for planning float trips on the county’s small rivers.  Among the map’s special features are the locations of all public lands.  For a small fee, the St. Lawrence County Highway Map is available from the Highway Department at (315) 379-1542.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) offers a number of free publications related to fishing county waters. Contact DEC Region Six Headquarters in Watertown, (315) 785-2261.

Anglers will also find information at the DEC website, www.dec.state.ny.us.  The site contains up-to-date stockings for county waters as well as contour maps of lakes.
